Tribal Mix

A meeting place between land and sea, a festival that celebrates local Nyungar culture, dance and music, promoting the message on cultural awareness and diversity that brings harmony between us all and the land we walk.

Entertainment from local Noongar band "Warangka", Wardarni dreaming dancers, Noyt Kobori Spirit Dancers, Total Theatre company, The Yabu Band, with many other performers on the day.

Workshops include tapping sticks, message stones, spinning flowers, building of the Balga Tree and Mia mia, with some sand medallions created on the beach.

Located on Busselton's foreshore with market stalls, a series of workshops and entertainment throughout the day, to provide the community and visitors an experience of indigenous culture.

Be Active Big Mix Battle of the Young Bands

Finalists will get to perform at the Busselton Beach Front at the Beach Festival's Big Mix event Sunday 16th January 2010 (2pm onwards) where the winner will be announced and get to perform again. All performers will be performing on stage in the Soundshell.

We invite all talented artists to have a go.

Welcome the Young Ambassador entrants in a relaxed casual atmosphere at the Busselton Tennis Club. Meet the Festival sponsors, members of the entrants' sponsoring clubs as well as the entrants in a friendly social event. Kleenheat Gas Festival Float Parade

Official Opening of the Festival of Busselton by the Shire President

The popular Festival Float Parade will commence at 3.30pm. The floats marshal at Signal Park at 2.30pm - with people to be on their floats at 3.00pm. From Signal Park, the parade will move along Queen Street, turning left into Prince Street/Stanley Street/Albert Street then back along Queen Street to Signal Park where awards for the winning floats and decorated kid’s bike will be announced. Roads will be closed.

There is no fee to participate in the parade - just turn up and enjoy the activities.

1st PRIZE: $500 2nd PRIZE: $100 ($1000 in total prize money to be won!)

Water Bombs are now COMPLETELY BANNED. Water pistols only in the second half of the parade.

36th Petticoat Lane 2010

Over 200 stalls

Queen and Prince Streets are cleared of motor vehicles and the traffic comes to a stop as people converge from all areas to join the fun of Petticoat Lane. As the roads close, the stall holders quickly set up their displays with a massive variety of goods to cater to the delights of all. Listen to the vibrant sounds of the Busselton Brass Band in Mitchell Park; be entertained by the colourful square dancers of the Surfsiders Square Dance Club; or join in the fun with the Busselton Fire Brigade with Fire Engine Rides in Kent St for the young and young-at-heart. With over 200 stalls, this is the 36th annual Petticoat Lane.

Children's Treasure Hunt

Ages 12 years and under

A treasure hunt will be held on the beach between Equinox and Nautical Lady next to the jetty. A multitude of coloured tokens will be buried in the sand and these can be exchanged for prizes. Each coloured token is a different prize. Four major prize vouchers donated by Bendigo Bank.

Plus a display of aerial water bombers at 12.00 noon

Closing Night Concert and Pro-Busselton Fireworks

Featuring Keith Potger

The highlight of the Festival’s final night is a live performance by Keith Potger, formerly with The Seekers and founder of The New Seekers. A gifted singer and song writer, Keith appears at Signal Park 7.00pm, playing acoustic guitar and singing. Opening the concert at 6.00pm is the Bunbury Catholic College’s Celtic Band, playing Irish songs and other music designed to stir the emotions. At 8.00pm, the Pioneer of the Year award will be presented to a well-deserving member of the Busselton community. Then the four Young Ambassador entrants arrive and will be introduced by Master of Ceremonies, Busselton’s own Baron, Nigel Chesterfield-Evans. After the Young Ambassador and Charity Ambassador winners are announced, the evening concludes with the burning of the Festival Spirit on the foreshore and a fireworks display.
